Providence, Rhode Island (PRESS RELEASE – December 19, 2010) – The Rhode Island Small Business Recovery Program, a collaborative partnership of more than twenty statewide organizations, today announced a series of comprehensive, free business training programs designed to increase the probability of success for existing businesses and to help move Rhode Islanders from unemployment to self-employment.
“Individuals thinking about launching a small business or current small business owners now have the opportunity to learn the essential building blocks of successful self-employment, free of charge, from leading entrepreneurs and other industry experts”
Created by a group of local business leaders to address Rhode Island’s unemployment rate and to help speed the recovery, the 15-20 free monthly training programs will assist a range of individuals from the pre-entrepreneur to the more experienced business owner. Additionally, the Small Business Recovery Program expects to build a statewide cooperative and collaborative initiative that will work together to bring long-term success to the R.I. small business community.
“Individuals thinking about launching a small business or current small business owners now have the opportunity to learn the essential building blocks of successful self-employment, free of charge, from leading entrepreneurs and other industry experts,” said David Nash, program director and the former president and CEO of the Central R.I. Chamber of Commerce. “These programs will review the reproducible scientific lessons and laws that can enable small business owners to increase their probability of success. Individuals will learn the essentials on how to set up a business, from selecting a business name to obtaining businesses licenses, finding customers, acquiring financing and more. I strongly encourage those individuals dreaming of becoming an entrepreneur to attend these programs. By attending, individuals can make their dreams a reality while, at the same time, strengthening and reinvigorating our state’s small business community.”
The programs offer four complementary components:
- Building Blocks for Success: extensive classroom seminars expressly designed to enhance business growth and financial strength
- Generating Internet to Income: monthly discussion groups designed to help monetize web activities
- One-on-One Coaching: individual assistance in creating business plans, gaining access to capital, and individual coaching
- Monthly Mastermind Meetings: interactive dialogue provides continuous improvement through peer support
The generous financial support of these original sponsors: Corner Office Financial LLC; David Lucier, CPA; Meridien Financial Group, Inc.; and Promotion in Motion helped make the 2011 Rhode Island Small Business Recovery Program possible.
