Amritsar:
The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Guru Nanak dev University organised an interactive session, in collaboration with Majha House, here today.
Renowned theatre artiste, Sanjana Kapoor, daughter of Shashi Kapoor, and author Venita Coelho delivered lectures and interacted with students. A large number of students and faculty members attended the programme.
Venita Coelho, who wrote several known daily soaps, including ‘Jassi jaisi koi nahi’, ‘Na bole tum na maine kuchh kaha’ and ‘Trikal’, said students should not merely study to get degrees, but follow their passion too.
“If we want to bring a change, the first person we need to change is ourselves,” she said. She also narrated how daily soaps could leave a strong impact on its audience. She said the television industry was slowly becoming a money-making machine and forgetting its main agenda that was to spread a social message.
Eminent theatre personality Sanjana Kapoor said that though she liked cinema, it was not something she wanted to dedicate her life to. “Theatre has always been my love and I found my place in the world doing theatre,” she said.
