NEW DELHI: Shares of Punjab National BankBSE -4.35 %(number of shares traded: 2.78 crore), Steel Authority of IndiaBSE 1.62 % (SAIL) (0.24 crore) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) (0.21 crore) were trading as the most active stocks in terms of volume on NSE in morning trade on Wednesday.
Shares of Tata Motors (0.16 crore), Ashok Leyland (0.15 crore), DLF (0.13 crore), Vedanta Ltd (0.13 crore), ICICI BankBSE 0.65 % (0.12 crore), Tata SteelBSE -1.09 % (0.12 crore), State Bank of IndiaBSE -0.69 % (0.11 crore), GAIL (0.11 crore) and Hindalco Industries (0.10 crore) were also among the most traded stocks on the National Stock Exchange.
Benchmark indices on Wednesday hit all-time highs in early trade, before turning rangebound.
The NSE Nifty index was trading 6 points up at 10,469, while the BSE Sensex was 25 points up at 33,861 around 09:40 am (IST).

In the Nifty index, GAIL (India), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Coal IndiaBSE 0.75 %, Maruti Suzuki India, Bharti Infratel and Hero MotoCorp were catching investors’ attention.
However, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Kotak Mahindra BankBSE -0.69 %, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and State Bank of India were seen experiencing selling pressure.
